Antal blade
i + 46 + i. 301 mm x 190 mm.
Foliering
Foliated 1-47 in red ink by Kristian Kålund (the AM-slip foliated as fol. 2). Moreover, there is older pagination in brown ink (1-89).
Lægfordeling

  • I: fols. 1-13 (1+13, 3+12, 4+11, 5+10, 6+9, 7+8) [The AM-slip, foliated as fol. 2, is stuck in.]
  • II: fols. 14-25 (14+25, 15+24, 16+23, 17+22, 18+21, 19+20)
  • III: fols. 26-37 (26+37, 27+36, 28+35, 29+34, 30+33, 31+32)
  • IV: fols. 38-47 (38+47, 39+46, 40+45, 41+44, 42+43)

There are no quire signatures. There are catchwords at the end of each quire, i.e. on fols. 13v, 25v and 37v, but not fol. 47v, which is blank.
Layout

  • The text is written in one or two columns with 31-35 lines per page and 7-8 words per line.
  • The written area measures ca. 240 mm x 125 mm.
  • Most of fol. 47r and all of fol. 47v are blank.

Tilstand

The fore edge of the leaves is untrimmed.

There are a couple of stains on the paper, mostly in the margins.

The ink has bled through the paper.

Skrifttype

Written by Ásgeir Jónsson.

Udsmykning

The initials are only slightly larger than the main text (1-2 lines) and are not decorated.

Tilføjelser

There are a couple of marginal notes in Torfæus's hand. On fol. 1v, there is a note in the hand of the scribe about the suggested author of the anonymous text. Even though the note is in the hand of Ásgeir Jónsson, the suggestion possibly originates from Torfæus.

Indbinding

The current binding (312 mm x 198 mm x 28 mm) is a half binding with parchment from Árni Magnússon's time on the spine (ca. 1700-1730) and yellowish-brown marbled paper on the boards. The boards were formerly covered in reused parchment leaves which were taken off in 1911 and replaced with the marbled paper. The removed leaves are now stored in Access. 7 e (Hs 122, fols. 4, 19, 24 and 57).

Vedlagt materiale

An AM-slip (150 mm x 100 mm) is glued onto fol. 3r (and counted as fol. 2). Árni Magnússon wrote on it: fra Sal. Assessor Thormod Toruesens Enke 1720.

Historie og herkomst

Herkomst

The manuscript was probably written in Norway in 1701 (cf. the colophon).

Proveniens

The whole manuscript, of which this was a part, was given to Árni Magnússon in 1720 by Torfæus's widow. Þormóður Torfæus probably commissioned the manuscript, since it was written by his scribe Ásgeir Jónsson.
